Thought for the day

Here are some reasons why it’s important for us as Christians to pray in tongues:
1. Personal Edification:
It strengthens and builds up the believer spiritually (1 Corinthians 14:4).
2. Spirit-Led Prayer:
The Holy Spirit helps pray according to God’s will, even when we don’t know what to pray (Romans 8:26).
3. Deeper Connection with God:
It allows intimate, direct communication with God (1 Corinthians 14:2).
4. Spiritual Refreshing:
It brings spiritual renewal and rest (Isaiah 28:11–12, referenced in 1 Corinthians 14:21).
5. Empowerment:
Praying in tongues can stir up spiritual gifts and boldness (Acts 2:4, Jude 1:20).

When we pray in the Spirit, especially through praying in tongues, we are praying the perfect will of God. According to Romans 8:26-27, the Holy Spirit intercedes for us as believers “according to the will of God”, even when we don’t know what to pray. This means that praying in the Spirit aligns our prayers with God’s heart, bypassing human limitations or misunderstandings.
