Thought for the day

When we as Christians say that the “favor of God surrounds us like a shield,” it is a powerful and comforting image taken from Psalm 5:12, which says, “Surely, Lord, you bless the righteous; you surround them with your favor as with a shield.” This phrase speaks of God’s protective and abundant blessings, suggesting that His favour acts as a shield to guard and protect us from harm, dangers, and negative circumstances.
In a broader sense, God’s favour represents His grace, kindness, and approval. It’s not necessarily about material wealth or success, but about experiencing His presence, His guidance, and His divine protection in our lives. Just as a shield deflects attacks, God’s favour shields us from harm, discouragement, and life’s challenges, giving us the strength and confidence to move forward in faith.
It also means that God’s favour is not just a one-time blessing, but a constant, ongoing presence that surrounds us. It can influence our relationships, our work, our health, and our spiritual lives. The favour of God can open doors, provide opportunities, and bring peace and assurance, even in difficult situations.
It’s a reminder that God’s love and grace are always at work in our lives, guiding, protecting, and blessing us.
