Thought for the day
When we receives a prophetic word, it’s important to approach it with discernment, humility, and faith. Here are some key steps to consider:
1. Pray for Confirmation:
After receiving a prophetic word, it’s essential to seek God’s confirmation through prayer. We need to ask God if the word aligns with His will for our life. Sometimes, God will confirm prophetic words through His peace, Scripture, or through other believers.
2. Test the Prophetic Word:
The Bible encourages us to test prophecies. In 1 Thessalonians 5:20-21, it says, “Do not treat prophecies with contempt but test them all; hold on to what is good.” Testing involves comparing the prophetic word to the Scriptures, checking if it aligns with God’s character, and reflecting on the circumstances of our life. If the word encourages us toward good and builds up our faith, it’s likely a true word from God.
3. Seek Wise Counsel:
We should share the prophetic word with trusted spiritual leaders, mentors, or fellow Christians who are mature in the faith. Their insights can help us discern whether the word is from God or if it’s simply from someone’s personal thoughts or feelings.
4. Be Patient and Wait:
Prophetic words often speak to future events or call us into action. However, just because we receive a prophetic word doesn’t mean everything will happen immediately. We need to trust that God will bring it to pass in His timing.
5. Step Out in Faith:
If the prophetic word encourages a particular action or change in our life, we must purpose to step out in faith. This could involve making decisions, taking specific actions, or aligning our life more closely with God’s direction.
6. Remain Humble:
It is important for us to recognize that a prophetic word is a gift from God, not something that elevates us. We must use the word to honour God and serve others, rather than using it to boast or make decisions from a place of pride.
7. Remember God’s Word is Always Primary:
The prophetic word should never contradict or replace Scripture. God’s Word, the Bible, is the final authority in all matters. If a prophetic word conflicts with Scripture, it’s not from God.
In essence, when we receive a prophetic word, we must treat it with reverence and wisdom, ensuring it aligns with God’s will and leads us toward a deeper relationship with Him.
