Thought for the day
The two twins (unforgiveness and offense) have become a major stumbling block in the body of Christ. They cause many to derail from their God given call, disconnect from divine connections and in the extreme turn totally away from Jesus.
As a starting point it is important to understand that offense is taken and not given. We have a choice as to whether we allow it to take root in our hearts or not. It is a very subtle process and is generally something small that is allowed to grow into something big.
For example you may have a situation where you aren’t greeted by somebody. At that point you have a choice to deal with it in a healthy way by engaging with the person in truth and asking them why they ignored you and if there was a reason. On most occasions you will find that the person will say that they are sorry and in fact were inside their own head or just very distracted.
However the other way is to leave it and allow the enemy to get a foothold by attacking you in the area of your mind with all kinds of extreme lies. You will start feeling and thinking that person hates you. This starts building to the extent that you now have unforgiveness in your heart which leads to you eventually hating your brother or sister instead of loving them. This has a serious impact on our relationship with God.
That’s why the Word of God instructs us in Proverbs 4:23 NLT to:
[23] Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.
