Thought for the day
Boasting is unloving and sinful. Those called to reflect Christ should strive for the same attitude as that of Christ Jesus (Philippians 2:5), showing a love that draws people to the Lord and gives glory to the heavenly Father (Matthew 5:16).
Boasting has no place in our Christian walk and should be avoided at all costs. As Christians we have nothing to boast about and in reality the only thing that makes us different is that we have Christ in us the hope of Glory. There are too many Christians running around blowing their own trumpets and bragging about their ministry. The truth is that without the empowering of the Holy Spirit it is void of transformational power and is nothing but dead works. We don’t have a personal ministry but are called to be servants of Christ and manifest His presence and power to a hurting and hopeless world.
There is a major difference between being boastful and bragging about how gifted you are and in knowing who you are in Christ. It is important to establish our identity in Christ and to walk in the authority that has been assigned to us in order that we may fulfil His plans, purposes and pursuits for our lives. The ultimate purpose being to advance His Kingdom here on earth.
