Thought for the day
God tests the attiitude of our heart through our money. Our attitude towards money reveals:
If we really want to know what’s important to us, we need to look at our calendar and our bank/credit card statement. How we spend our time and money shows what we love most.
Matthew 6:19-21 (NLT) says, “Don’t store up treasures here on earth . . . Store your treasures in heaven . . . Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be”.
Wherever we place our money is wherever we want our heart to be. We will become interested in whatever we invest our money in.
2. Money reveals what we trust most.
Are we trusting in our money for security, or do we trust in God? Do we trust in our own happiness, or do we trust in God for our happiness? Do we trust in money to make us feel good about ourself, or do we trust in God to make us feel good about ourself?
Money is the acid test of faith.
The Bible says in Proverbs 11:28, “Those who trust in their riches will fall, but the righteous will thrive like a green leaf” (NIV).
3. Money reveals if God can trust us.
Money doesn’t just reveal whether we trust God; it also reveals whether God can trust us.
Luke 16:10-12 says, “If you are faithful in little things, you will be faithful in large ones. But if you are dishonest in little things, you won’t be honest with greater responsibilities. And if you are untrustworthy about worldly wealth, who will trust you with the true riches of heaven? And if you are not faithful with other people’s things, why should you be trusted with things of your own?” (NLT).
How we handle money affects how much God blesses our life. Now that we understand the direct connection between money management and God’s blessing, we need to ask God to help us get our finances in order,if applicable, so that He can trust us with true riches.
