Here are several reasons why we as Christians should desire to speak in tongues:

1. To Experience a Closer Relationship with God (1 Corinthians 14:2)
2. To Build Up and Strengthen One’s Faith (1 Corinthians 14:4)
3. As a Form of Spiritual Empowerment
4. To Enhance Prayer Life (Romans 8:26)
5. As a Gift for Worship and Praise (1 Corinthians 14:15)
6. To Manifest the Power of the Holy Spirit.(1 Corinthians 12:10)
7. To Fulfill the Biblical Desire for Spiritual Gifts (1 Corinthians 14:5)
8. To Encourage a Sense of Unity in the Church ( Acts 2:4)
Desiring to speak in tongues is often motivated by a longing for a deeper relationship with God, a more vibrant prayer life, spiritual empowerment, and the desire to be more effective in ministry. It is a way for us as Christians to experience the fullness of the Holy Spirit’s work in our lives, drawing closer to God and being empowered to live out our faith with greater strength and purpose.
