Thought for the day

Here are a four effects of keeping in our lives a “secret”:
1. Lack of Accountability:
Sin thrives in secrecy because when hidden, it is harder for others to hold us accountable. Without accountability, we can continue in sinful patterns without correction (James 5:16, Proverbs 27:17).
2. Deception and Denial:
Keeping sin secret often leads to self-deception, where we convince ourselves that it’s not as serious as it really is, or that we can handle it on our own (1 John 1:8, Jeremiah 17:9).
3. Shame and Guilt:
Secrecy allows shame and guilt to fester, creating a barrier between us and God. When sin is brought into the light, we can receive forgiveness and healing (1 John 1:9, Psalm 32:3-5).
4. Power Over Us:
Hidden sin has the power to control us. When we bring it into the light, we break its power because we’re no longer hiding from God or others, and we’re able to experience freedom through confession and repentance (John 8:32, Romans 6:6-7).
