Thought for the day
The soothsayer spirit is a counterfeit form of prophecy that imitates the Holy Spirit but leads people away from truth. In many churches today, God is exposing this spirit by revealing its motives, methods, and the harm it causes to the Body of Christ.
Here’s a concise summary of how a soothsayer spirit is identified and exposed in the church:
1. Focuses on prediction, not repentance
Emphasizes sensational future events rather than calling people to holiness.
2. Uses prophecy for control
Manipulates or pressures people under the guise of God’s word.
3. Appeals to the flesh
Flattering, ego-boosting messages instead of honouring God.
4. Lacks the fruit of the Spirit
Displays gifts or signs without love, humility, or obedience.
5. Mixes Christianity with occult practices
Uses astrology, numerology, or channeling rather than Scripture.
6. Turns prophecy into entertainment
Focuses on impressing crowds rather than discipleship.
7. Predictions fail
Words that do not come true reveal a false source.
8. Discernment grows
The Body of Christ needs to become more vigilant, studying Scripture and testing spirits.
As the church grows in discernment and returns to Scripture, the influence of the soothsayer spirit weakens. True prophetic ministry is strengthened when we as believers test every spirit, pursue holiness, and stay rooted in the voice and character of Christ.
