Thought for the day
The church is often called the “body of Christ.” What Jesus Christ did when He was here in His physical body, is exactly what He wants His followers to continue to do today. We are the body of Christ here on Earth.
Scripture says, “Just as there are many parts to our bodies, so it is with Christ’s body. We are all parts of it, and it takes every one of us to make it complete, for we each have different work to do. So we belong to each other, and each needs all the others” (Romans 12:4-5 TLB).
We are all needed in the body of Christ and takes every one of us to make it complete. It’s like a jigsaw puzzle and when we put together a puzzle and one piece is missing, we are going to notice the one missing piece.
This is the way it is in the body of Christ because everyone is needed.
We may say, “I’m just a toenail in the body of Christ.” Have you ever lost a toenail? It is very noticeable. It is just a tiny part of our body, but we notice it if it is missing.
We must never confuse prominence and significance because something can be prominent but not significant. Our nose is prominent, but it’s not significant. We could lose our nose and keep on living the rest of our life. But, inside of us, there are things no one ever sees, like our liver, heart, and lungs. They’re not prominent, but if we lost them, we’d die.
Today you may not feel prominent in the body of Christ, but you are significant. There are many parts, and each one of them is needed. We all have important work to do.
