Thought for the day

As Christians, our lives should be centered on pleasing God rather than seeking the approval or praise of people. While it’s natural to appreciate encouragement from others, being driven by human praise can easily lead us away from humility and our true purpose in Christ. The Bible reminds us that our worth and reward come from God alone, not from the opinions of men.

We shouldn’t be moved by the praises of man because:

1. All glory belongs to God – Our talents and achievements come from Him (1 Corinthians 10:31), so praise should point back to God, not ourselves.
2. Human praise is temporary – People’s opinions change easily, but God’s approval is eternal (Galatians 1:10).
3. Pride leads to downfall – Being moved by praise can lead to pride, which distances us from God (Proverbs 16:18).
4. True reward comes from God – Jesus taught that those who seek human praise already have their reward, but those who seek God’s approval will be rewarded by Him (Matthew 6:1–4).
5. Humility reflects Christ – Jesus Himself was humble and sought only to please the Father (Philippians 2:5–8).

Our focus should be on pleasing God, not gaining human approval.
