Thought for the day
Here are some brief reasons why many Christians drink from broken cisterns:
1. Lack of Trust
They struggle to fully trust God’s sufficiency and promises.
2. Spiritual Distraction
The world offers immediate, tangible pleasures that seem more satisfying.
3. Wounded Hearts
Past pain or disappointment leads them to seek comfort elsewhere.
4. Cultural Influence
Society constantly promotes self-reliance, success, and materialism.
5. Impatience
God’s timing can feel slow, so they turn to quicker fixes.
6. Shallow Discipleship
Without deep spiritual formation, it’s easy to rely on substitutes.
7. Identity Confusion
Forgetting their identity in Christ, they seek value in other sources.
All of these point to a deeper need for restoration and intimacy with God.
Psalm 42:1–2 (NIV):
“As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, my God.My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God?” ( spend time meditating on this scripture)
