Thought for the day

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of all wisdom because it puts us in the right posture before God—humble, teachable, and aware of His holiness and authority. Here are a few brief reasons:

1. It acknowledges God as the source of truth and wisdom
Proverbs 9:10 – “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.”

2. It leads to humility, which opens the heart to learn
Reverence for God removes pride, making us willing to be guided. Proverbs 11:2 – “With humility comes wisdom.”

3. It helps us turn away from sin
A right fear of God leads to obedience and right living. Proverbs 16:6 – “Through the fear of the Lord evil is avoided.”

4. It aligns us with God’s will and purposes
True wisdom begins when we value what God values. Job 28:28 – “The fear of the Lord—that is wisdom, and to shun evil is understanding.”

5. It brings lasting security and direction
Living in reverence of God leads to wise decisions and peace. Proverbs 14:26 – “Whoever fears the Lord has a secure fortress, and for their children it will be a refuge.”

In short, fearing the Lord rightly places Him at the center of our thinking, which is the foundation of all true wisdom.
