Thought for the day
Here are five brief points on why it’s important for us as Christians to understand that “like begets like,” :
1. Spiritual sowing leads to spiritual fruit
What we plant in our lives determines the outcome. Galatians 6:7 – “Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows.”
2. God’s nature is reproduced in His children
As children of God, we are called to reflect His character. 1 John 3:9 – “No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God’s seed remains in them…”
3. Living by the Spirit produces the fruit of the Spirit
A Spirit-led life results in godly character. Galatians 5:22-23 – “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace…”
4. Evil produces more evil, righteousness produces righteousness
Our choices influence the direction of our lives. Matthew 7:17 – “Likewise, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit.”
5. Disciples make disciples like themselves
What we are spiritually will be reproduced in those we influence. Luke 6:40 – “The student is not above the teacher, but everyone who is fully trained will be like their teacher.”
These truths help us live intentionally, knowing our spiritual lives will naturally reproduce what we nurture.
