Thought for the day

Here are some characteristics of a controlling spirit:

1. Manipulation over Guidance
Instead of offering loving counsel, the person uses guilt, fear, or intimidation to push their will. (Galatians 5:13)

2. Domination, Not Service
They seek to control your decisions, relationships, or freedom rather than empower you to make Godly choices. (Matthew 20:25–26)

3. Violation of Free Will
God allows free will, but a controlling spirit tries to override it. (2 Corinthians 3:17 – “Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.”)

4. Constant Criticism & Undermining
They subtly (or openly) erode your confidence to make you dependent on them.

5. Unholy Influence
Their advice consistently pulls you away from God’s Word, healthy community, or obedience to Christ.

A controlling spirit is identified by manipulation, domination, and the suppression of God-given freedom, rather than guidance in love and truth.
