Thought for the day

As Christians, cultivating a reverential fear of our Lord is essential to our spiritual growth and relationship with God. It goes beyond fear of punishment—it’s about honouring His holiness and authority.

Having a reverential fear of the Lord is important for several key reasons:
1. It shows deep respect for God’s holiness
God is pure, righteous, and just. Revering Him acknowledges His greatness and our need to approach Him with humility (Proverbs 9:10).
2. It leads to wisdom and understanding
Scripture teaches that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom (Proverbs 1:7), guiding believers to make godly choices.
3. It fosters obedience and right living
A healthy fear of God encourages us to follow His commandments and live according to His will (Ecclesiastes 12:13).
4. It deepens our relationship with God
Reverence brings us closer to God, helping us trust Him more fully and rely on His grace and mercy (Psalm 25:14).
5. It guards against sin
Knowing God sees and judges all can deter us from wrongdoing and keep us spiritually alert (Proverbs 16:6).
This fear isn’t terror, but awe and respect rooted in love and trust.

The reverential fear of the Lord leads us to wisdom, obedience, and a deeper connection with God. It keeps us grounded in faith and walking in His ways with humility and awe.
