Thought for the day
For us as Christians, joy is considered a spiritual force for several key reasons:
1. Fruit of the Spirit:
Joy is listed as a fruit of the Holy Spirit in Galatians 5:22, showing it’s not based on circumstances but is a result of the Spirit’s presence and work in a believer’s life.
2. Source in God:
True joy comes from God, not external situations (Psalm 16:11; Nehemiah 8:10 – “the joy of the Lord is your strength”).
3. Strength in Trials:
Joy empowers us as believers to endure hardships with hope and peace (James 1:2–3; Romans 5:3–5), making it a sustaining spiritual force.
4. Evidence of Faith:
Joy reflects trust in God’s promises, showing that we live by faith and not by sight (1 Peter 1:8–9).
In short, our joy is a powerful, inward force rooted in relationship with God, enabling strength, endurance, and hope.
