Thought for the day

It is so important as followers of Christ to be generous. When we are generous there are three ways it can make an impact on our life:
1. It makes us happy:
Acts 20:35 says, “Remember the words of the Lord Jesus: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive’” (NLT). The world will tell us that we will be happiest when we receive but the truth is that we will be happier when we give than when we receive.
2. It just makes sense:
In 2 Corinthians 9:6 scripture tells us, “Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously” (NIV). If we want other people to be generous with us we need to sow generosity so that we can reap generosity from God and others. There is a law of sowing and reaping and if we want to reap generosity, we have to sow generosity.
3. It shows the world what God is like:
The Word of God says, “As a result of your ministry, they will give glory to God. For your generosity to them and to all believers will prove that you are obedient to the Good News of Christ” (2 Corinthians 9:13 NLT).
The best way to learn to be more generous is to remember the incredible generosity of God. Even when life is difficult, we can always find God’s gifts when we look for them. We need to look at the life He gives us and the way He meets our needs.
Today be reminded that when we are generous with others because of God’s generosity toward us, it points others to God.
