Comfort in all the wrong places.
Do you ever feel like whenever you mess up or do things you are not supposed to, that the people around you seem to either cheer you on or even make excuses for you? I remember having a reputation for being the last man standing at any party. I loved this title and used to drug and drink as hard as I could to maintain it. The attention I got from my “brothers” and friends regarding this gave me reason to be very comfortable while taking dangerous amounts of drugs and alcohol. I mean these people used to watch me get in a car or on my bike with no problems.
Now that I am way past all of that, thanks to the amazing work Jesus did in me when I gave my life to Him. I see that these people I called friends were perfectly happy to watch me waste my life while cheering me on at the same time. It is for that reason I was drawn to them and only looked for relationships within that circle. Never once did I position myself around people that would hold me to any standard of accountability and I was completely lost.
The point I would like to share here is simply this. The enemy of God wants you to be comfortable in your compromise! It is he that orchestrates this false comfort and he will use your friends, family and even your church if he can. This is why you should always make sure you have people in your life that can and will call you out when you are off track or out of line.
Regarding church, If you are like me? Most Sundays you just want to go to church and be comforted and reminded of how much God loves you and that no matter what, its all going to be ok. Make no mistake that message is needed once in a while and is important, but if that is all you are getting with no correction and no discipline and none of the uncomfortable lets get to work fixing stuff. Then the enemy is behind the scenes keeping you from making the changes in your life that will lead you into the fullness of what God has planned for you.
Its time to step out of your comfort zone and to step into Gods best for your life.
