Thought for the day
Complete forgiveness means that we must re-learn to trust the individual that caused the hurt in the first place. In re-learning to trust, we must allow ourselves to be vulnerable and open to constructive criticism. We will need to appreciate feedback from those around us and not assume automatically that off-handed comments are intended to hurt. We need to listen carefully to the message the person may be attempting to deliver, and not so much to the tone or the mannerism in which it is delivered. Some people have problems with communications, but mean no harm in what they are trying to convey.
Additionally, re-learning to trust involves some degree of reconciliation with the person(s) that initially caused the injustice or hurt. Without reconciliation, our interactions with others are affected in a negative way, and it is difficult to trust others who have done us no harm. Reconciliation will help prevent further deterioration of the relationship.
