Thought for the day
Here are some reasons why it’s important not to walk in pride:
1. Pride resists dependence on God:
When we are prideful, we rely on our own strength, wisdom, and plans rather than seeking God’s guidance. This prevents us from fully surrendering to His will.
2. Pride makes us unteachable:
A prideful heart often refuses correction, wisdom, or input from others — even when God sends help through people. This closes the door to growth and transformation.
3. Pride seeks personal glory:
Instead of advancing God’s kingdom, pride pushes us to seek recognition, validation, or status, which can lead us off the path God has prepared.
4. Pride blinds us to our flaws:
Pride can make us unaware (or in denial) of the areas in our lives that need healing, humility, or repentance — all of which are necessary to be used effectively by God.
5. God opposes the proud:
Scripture is clear (James 4:6, 1 Peter 5:5) — God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble. Pride puts us in direct opposition to the very One who has called us.
In short, pride blocks the posture of humility and obedience that is necessary to walk in God’s purpose. Letting go of pride and embracing humility positions us to hear God, trust Him, and follow wherever He leads.
