Thought for the day
As Christians, we should not live in false humility because it:
1. Misrepresents the truth
False humility often involves denying our gifts or calling, which can be a form of dishonesty. True humility acknowledges God’s work in us without boasting (Romans 12:3).
2. Steals glory from God
Pretending we are less than who God made us to be diminishes His grace and purpose in our lives (1 Corinthians 15:10).
3. Hinders service
False humility can lead to inaction or passivity, when God calls us to boldly serve others using the talents He gave us (1 Peter 4:10).
4. Focuses inward, not upward
It keeps our attention on ourselves rather than pointing others to Christ, which is the true aim of humility (Philippians 2:3–5).
True humility is not thinking less of ourselves, but thinking of ourselves less — and rightly recognizing our identity in Christ.
